Dr Rachael McEwing has over 20 years’ experience in radiology and has been a member of our team since 2012. Rachael is a strong advocate for quality and equity in Obstetric Ultrasound. She was the Chair for the New Zealand Obstetric Ultrasound Guidelines group which published the national guideline in 2019 and the updated version in 2024. 
In addition to her radiology work, Rachael has gained significant governance experience having served on the Board of Directors for both Pacific Radiology and Reflect Ultrasound. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand.

Wellington/Manawatu-based specialist clinician Dr Nick Kenning is both a managing radiologist and Board Director at RHCNZ. Nick pursues several specialist interests which he has cultivated over a successful career spanning more than 10 years.

After graduating from Otago University, Nick completed his radiology training in Wellington and went on to complete a fellowship in MRI at the Monash Medical Centre (Southern Health) in Melbourne, and an MBA from Otago University. Nick enjoys actively contributing to improving better health outcomes for all patients within the Pacific Radiology regions.

Dr Paul Dukes has been part of our Nelson team since 2007 and is currently Managing Radiologist for the region. After completing his radiology training he worked at Auckland Hospital as part of the interventional team working with the NZ Liver Transplant Unit before completing a stint at Nelson Hospital.

Throughout his career, Paul has gained considerable academic experience. He has been a Senior Lecturer in Anatomy with Radiology at Auckland Medical School and was part of the Auckland FAST Ultrasound Course faculty.

Dr Stephen Merrilees has more than 20 years’ experience delivering quality care in both public and private healthcare settings. He currently holds two Managing Radiologist appointments at RHCNZ - Pacific Radiology Waikato and Auckland Radiology. While Steve works in all areas of Body Imaging and Intervention, he has a special interest in Hepatobiliary and Vascular Imaging and Intervention.

Throughout his career, Steve has been highly involved in academic medicine. He has published in peer reviewed journals, co-written book chapters, and been involved in local and international meetings as both invited Faculty and Convenor. In addition to his academic endeavours, Steve has previously held several prestigious appointments including:
•    NZ branch representative of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA)
•    Australasian Committee member for the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR)
•    NZ representative for the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Peripheral Endovascular Therapy (CCRTPET)
